Onshore
Gravitek personnel have experience on many petrochemical sites, namely Engen, Sapref, Caltex, Zenex and Petronas Malaysia. This involved Ultrasonic Thickness Gauging (PCMS - Plant Corrosion Management Systems), Radiographic and Visual Inspection on various pieces of equipment and piping systems.
PCMS involves identifying TML points on piping systems using API guidelines, carrying out visual inspections to establish extent of external corrosion or CUI (Corrosion Under Insulation) and using UT and radiography to establish wall thickness and internal conditions of piping and welds. Monitoring on a regular basis is also carried out with the objective of putting together work lists for up and coming shutdowns.
Gravitek personnel worked on the Caltex Cape Town refinery in 2000 shutdown, where Dean was a team leader, overseeing and coordinating all rope access maintenance and inspection work during this shutdown. Gravitek supplied personnel for all (work at height) inspection and maintenance works in the 2007 shutdown at Chevron (SA) Refinery in Cape Town, South Africa. More recently, Gravitek has been awarded a 3 year contract for the same.

Offshore
Rope access enables inspection and maintenance crews to gain access to areas that would normally require staging. Access can be gained to these areas quickly and efficiently. Inspection and maintenance work can be carried out in transit, eliminating the need for dry-docking. On FSO, FPSO, drilling platforms, pumping stations and almost any offshore facility, work can be carried out with little or no interruptions to production if planned effectively.
